An essential ingredient for almost all industrialized food, salt is an important prime matter for the chemical industry, for caustic soda in all forms, and chlorine; for the textile, petroleum and steel industries, among others. It is also used in leather tanneries. Salt can be used in several forms according to the needs of each process or industrial product.
